German Cuisine Influence in Italian Alps
During our recent stay in the Italian Alps or Dolomiti, we all enjoyed dining on the local specialties of the region in a traditional mountain chalet. These included the “canerderli” – bacon dumplings served in broth, roast pork knuckle which was huge and fit for a king followed by the most delicious apple strudel with pine nuts and cream. This menu was perfect after a day hiking in the Alps with breathtaking scenery and made a pleasant change from the regular Italian cuisine.
